Stress in Men

Though researches shows that women tend to suffer from general anxiety far more than men do, however, men often suffer neglectful anxiety just as much as women do. One man could be facing many stressful issues that could tighten their anxiety level in their lives. It could be issues at work, low self-confidence, or difficulties at home, e.g. unhealthy relationship with family; any of these, or even a combination of these can cause an upscale of men’s anxiety level.


  • Twitching or trembling
  • Muscle tension, headaches
  • Sweating
  • Dry mouth, difficulty swallowing
  • Abdominal pain (may be the only symptom of stress, especially in a child)
  • Dizziness
  • Rapid or irregular heart rate
  • Rapid breathing
  • Diarrhea or frequent need to urinate
  • Fatigue
  • Irritability
  • Sleeping difficulties and nightmares

  • Personality: low self-esteem and those with poor coping skills are normally prone to this problem.
  • Environmental factors such as stress at work, chaotic home life, poverty and hectic lifestyle
  • Drug influence like caffeine, cocaine, nicotine
  • Genetics

  • Eat more green, yellow, and orange vegetables and fruits
  • Taking natural vitamins like B complex, C and E along with minerals like manganese, selenium and zinc
  • Avoid junk foods, fast food, fatty and oily foods, and food high in sugar and salt
  • Avoid drinking tea, coffee and cocoa
 
  • Try to set aside at least 30 minutes each day to switch off from the world and unwind.
  • Laugh more and take breaks from work
  • Get enough sleep, 8-10 hours per day
  • Exercise regularly
  • Find self-help books at your local library or bookstore.
  • Learn and practice relaxation techniques like guided imagery, progressive muscle relaxation, yoga, tai chi, or meditation
